Our Approach
psychotherapy = Soul healing
Psychotherapy originates from the Greek words (ψυχή, psychē, soul) and (θεραπεύω, therapeuō, healing), which, by themselves, translate as soul-healing. This contemporary term has unfortunately lost its original purpose and meaning: to provide comfort, healing, and hope for one’s complete essence, both physical and spiritual: their soul. Psychotherapy should help people live with a sound mind, a clear purpose, maintain healthy relationships, and have an abundance of joy; all of which come through, and in Jesus Christ. Pastors and spiritual leaders are uniquely equipped and called to this work.
We are trained pastoral counselors who incorporate the insights of the psychological sciences while operating through a biblical worldview to help people in seasons of need. Perhaps you’re a pastor or minister who is overburdened with counseling demands and need someone to refer your people to for care. Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t have Christian community or who needs a trusted Christian resource outside of your circle. No matter your reason for reaching out, we are here to serve you as you grow in Christ.
Our Counseling Philosophy
Humans are spiritual beings
While cognitive and biological factors are important to address in counseling, the underlying issues that we face in life are often spiritual and are a result of sin. Humans are spiritual beings, and the only way to experience true change is to have an encounter and relationship with our supernatural God.
God and his word heal
God is named the Wonderful Counselor and He is the best counselor that we all have unlimited access to. He intimately knows our lives and issues, and perfectly provides all the answers that we need. Our counselors will not tell you our own thoughts on how you can be healed, we will bring you to One who can heal you. We know His heart and character through the Word of God, and through it we can hear His voice.
solution-focused
Our aim is to get you better, not keep you in a place of need. We’ll help you identify the sources of your issues and help you set attainable goals so that you can have victory. Our goal is to shift perspectives and attention to Christ, rather than focusing on deficiencies and problems.
Healing Community
One-on-one counseling is helpful, but being involved in a Church community is what will strengthen you for the long haul. We all need consistent people in our lives who know us, challenge us, and love us when life gets rough. Whether you need opportunities for Christian community, or need guidance within the one you already have, we’re here to help.
