psyche = Soul
Did you know that the word from which we get the term “psychology” (ψυχή, psyche) was written often in the New Testament’s original Greek? The word is translated as soul; which means the totally of a person’s being, both spiritually and physically. Modern psychological theories and State-approved practitioners have claimed authority as the primary source of care for souls, yet the results aren’t getting better, and the demand for care has never been higher. Something needs to change, and we are here to help meet the need for guidance, wisdom, and healing in the way that Christ intended — the Church. Perhaps you’re a pastor overburdened with counseling demands and need to refer someone. Perhaps you’re a Christian that doesn’t have a community, needs an alternative counselor, or needs a trusted Christian resource outside of your circle. No matter your reason for reaching out, we hope that you’ll join us in our mission to stop outsourcing soul care to a secular world, and keep it within the Body of Christ.
Our Counseling Philosophy
Humans are spiritual beings
While cognitive and biological factors are important to address in counseling, the underlying issues that we face in life are often spiritual and are a result of sin. Humans are spiritual beings, and the only way to experience true change is to have an encounter and relationship with our supernatural God.
God and his word heal
God is named the Wonderful Counselor and He is the best counselor that we all have unlimited access to. He intimately knows our lives and issues, and perfectly provides all the answers that we need. Our counselors will not tell you our own thoughts on how you can be healed, we will bring you to One who can heal you. We know His heart and character through the Word of God, and through it we can hear His voice.
solution-focused
Our aim is to get you better, not keep you in a place of need. We’ll help you identify the sources of your issues and help you set attainable goals so that you can have victory. Our goal is to shift perspectives and attention to Christ, rather than focusing on deficiencies and problems.
Healing Community
One-on-one counseling is helpful, but being involved in a Church community is what will strengthen you for the long haul. We all need consistent people in our lives who know us, challenge us, and love us when life gets rough. Whether you need opportunities for Christian community, or need guidance from within the Christian family you already have, we’re here to help.
Common Questions
-
After filling out the forms and getting in touch with a counselor via email, text, or phone, you can expect to be surrounded by grace and understanding by our counselors. For the first session, our counselors will get acquainted with you and hear more about your heart and the problems that you are experiencing. During, or after, this first session, the counselor will recommend a care plan going forward.
As for methods and interventions used by the counselors, you can expect the wisdom of Scripture to be utilized throughout the process. Helpful tools from modern schools of psychotherapy such as solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may be incorporated into the session, but will always align with a truth that has already been established by God's Word. Other methods include biblical and scientific education and intentional repentance and prayer. The counselor will attentively listen to you and adapt their interventions to your fit your unique needs.

Common issues that all of our counselors work with include: religious and spiritual abuse (or trauma), sexual identity and behavior, marriage and family related issues, depression, anxiety, anger, addictions, toxic-thinking, grief, career guidance, and life-coaching.
