Christian Counseling that makes a difference
Below are the ways we offer Christ-centered care for our community.
Professional Christian Counseling
Formal counseling services provided by Kyle Hope, M.A. are now offered through Hope Christian Counseling, a dedicated Christian counseling practice serving individuals, couples, adolescents, and families.
Hope Christian Counseling provides structured, ongoing care for concerns such as marriage conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual integrity, and spiritual hurt. Sessions are available in person in San Marcos and virtually throughout Texas.
Lay Counseling in Lockhart
New Ground Ministries continues to offer free lay counseling for individuals and families in the Lockhart area who are experiencing hardship or may not otherwise have access to care.
Our trained lay counselors provide compassionate, Christ-centered encouragement, biblical guidance, prayer, and a safe place to be heard. Lay counseling is ministry-based support and is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment or emergency care.
Our Counseling Philosophy
Humans are spiritual beings
While cognitive and biological factors are important to address in counseling, the underlying issues that we face in life are often spiritual and are a result of sin. Humans are spiritual beings, and the only way to experience true change is to have an encounter and relationship with our supernatural God.
God and His Word heal
God is named the Wonderful Counselor and He is the best counselor that we all have unlimited access to. He intimately knows our lives and issues, and perfectly provides all the answers that we need. Our counselors will not tell you our own thoughts on how you can be healed, we will bring you to One who can heal you. We know His heart and character through the Word of God, and through it we can hear His voice.
Solution-Focused
Our aim is to get you better, not keep you in a place of need. We’ll help you identify the sources of your issues and help you set attainable goals so that you can have victory. Our goal is to shift perspectives and attention to Christ, rather than focusing on deficiencies and problems.
Healing Community
One-on-one counseling is helpful, but being involved in a Church community is what will strengthen you for the long haul. We all need consistent people in our lives who know us, challenge us, and love us when life gets rough. Whether you need opportunities for Christian community, or need guidance within the one you already have, we’re here to help.
